Inspirations Some lighting designers draw inspiration from artistic and historical sources. Others are also inspired by the people who illuminate their lives. At Varaluz, several of our designs are named in honor of friends and loved ones who have passed away. For example, we call our line of leaf-ornamented fixtures DHPC, which stands for "Dale Howard Polo Club". Dale Howard Henderson was the brother of our company's president, Ron Henderson. One of Ron's great aunts, Francis Stanfield—a pioneering journalist in the 1940s—lends her name to our Stanfield line of antique reproduction lighting. Our traditional Dorothy lighting was named for a dear friend, Dorothy Sawyer. The captivating shimmer of our Brilliance fixtures reflects the ebullient personality of Jeffrey McBride, an interior designer and dear friend. And with both our Carrillo line and our company name we pay homage to the aptly named Luz Selva Carrillo, the mother of President of Operations and Varaluz co-founder Jorge Hernandez.
