Indoor and Outdoor Ceiling Fans

Craving some air flow in your house? Is the air conditioner running as hard as it can go but it still feels stuffy and hot in your house? A ceiling fan can create air flow in a highly decorative way. They are many different varieties of Ceiling Fans these days. The choices can be overwhelming. How do you decide what kind of fan and what size you need?

We now offer indoor ceiling fans which can also be used as outdoor ceiling fans which are available in almost in almost every shape, size and material imaginable.  Ceiling fans are not measured by the length of the individual blades, but by the total radius of the fan. For example, a 52-inch ceiling fan does not have blades that are 52 inches long, individually. Rather, 52 inches is the total length from the tip of one blade to the tip of the blade opposite it. Ceiling fans are available in sizes of 56”, 48”, 42”, 36” and 24’’. Ceiling Fans usually measure between 30 and 52 inches. A larger ceiling fan can generate more airflow, so they are best in big rooms. The width of the blades is also significant. Wide blades can move more air, but they often have greater air resistance and move more slowly than narrow blades.

To ensure proper delivery of air, check the room size.  You first need to measure the room where the ceiling fan home will be. Your room size dictates the fan blade size. The smaller the room, the smaller the blade you will need on the Ceiling Fan. The larger the room, the larger the fan blade you need. For optimum airflow, ceiling fans should be installed no higher than seven to eight feet from the floor. The blade pitch dictates how efficiently the fan blades move air. The steeper the pitch the more air the blades will move in your room.

In addition, to get the best results from your Ceiling Fan, ensure that the height of the ceiling is just 1 foot from the plane of rotation of the blades.  Increase the speed to maximum and then check the room at different locations for good air delivery.  Ensure that the angle of the blade is fixed as per the instruction manual.
